As the lead Geomechanics expert on our CCUS team, you will design advanced multi-phase simulation models to predict the long-term behavior of supercritical CO2 injected 10,000 feet subsea. This role oversees reservoir pressure limits, plume migration tracking, and coordinates directly with the EPA on Class VI storage permit compliance.
Core Responsibilities
- Construct high-resolution 3D geological and numerical reservoir models using Eclipse, CMG, or Petrel.
- Estimate storage capacity, injection rates, and pressure thresholds for deep saline aquifers.
- Design downhole monitoring programs, including micro-seismic geophone arrays and pressure transducers.
- Lead the technical drafting of geologic containment evaluations for EPA Class VI regulatory submittals.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Hydrology.
- 10+ years of reservoir engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on CO2 storage or EOR simulation.
- Expert knowledge of multi-phase flow dynamics, structural trap mechanics, and capillary trapping.
- Strong publication record or technical presentations on reservoir sealing integrity is a major plus.
